Jay D. Johnson co-founder
Jay has been in the corporate training, facilitation and Human Resources world for over 20 years. He has worked for major corporations in this role including Capital Cities Communications/ABC television, American Can Corp, Gerber Childrenswear, Genesco, Tandy Corp., and United Technologies. Jay has served as the President and Board Member of the Wilderness Education Association and is currently on the presidential council for WEA, www.weainfo.org.
Jay is a certified wilderness guide as well as a certified Adventure Based Counselor.
He has been a key note speaker for many trade shows and conferences on the topics of Corporate Social Responsibility, Innovation, Leadership and Team Development, Organizational Development, Sustainability and the incorporation of experiential education in personal and professional development.
Edward R. Thorney co-founder
Ed Thorney has been providing Organization Development assistance and corporate leadership support for over twenty years. His particular expertise is supporting senior leadership teams to execute carefully planned change processes over a 6-12 month period. Ed 's effectiveness as a change agent is due to his ability to listen well, summarize complex issues into a simple vision and to design appropriate interventions to make the change happen.
In addition to his responsibilities as co-founder of Above and Beyond International, Ed is Executive Director of Time Out Foundation, Inc. whose mission is to serve severely at risk youth with equine assisted therapy and therapeutic wilderness/mentoring experiences.
Ed earned a M.S. Management & Organization Development from Antioch New England Graduate School. The Wilderness Education Association (WEA) awarded him certification in Wilderness Leadership in 1983. He received his therapeutic counseling training from the Gestalt Institute of the Berkshires.
